Update from Epsom. Not really a lot to say this week. Last Sunday there was a boot sale in the Hook Road car park and all of the surrounding streets were clogged up by people parking everywhere. Why is it that some people see nothing wrong in parking on the footpath and almost completely blocking it. It's illegal and antisocial and yet the Police don't seem to care at all. At least the Government are going to do something about graffiti. They're going to allow the Police to stop anyone they suspect of being a grafitist and search them for the tools of their trade. How, is this going to work then? The Police will be too busy processing film and fixed penalty notices for Gatsos to be bothered doing this. And if they have time to search some kid who's to know he isn't a model or motoring enthusiast just out to liven up his piece of experimental art. Don't get me wrong I'm all in favour of catching people who paint or scratch crude images on someone else's property. I'm also in favour of grabbing people who drop litter and the nauseous bastards who flick cigarette butts out of car windows into my face as I am riding behind. Antisocial behaviour is antisocial and if you can't behave with a little respect to other people you deserve to suffer a loss of respect yourself. But wouldn't it be better if the Police were able to simply detain yobboes for 15 minutes or half an hour whilst they explained the error of their ways. Waste their time instead of ours.
